Sessions House
Northampton
This attractive Grade I-listed building has been refurbished and converted into a tourist information centre and new reception for the adjacent County Hall. Sessions House, in the heart of Northampton, dates from 1678, and is the former law courts. The project has seen the transformation and preservation of one of Northampton’s most significant historical sites.
Conservation works have included repairs to the ornate plaster ceiling and timber panels. The 300-year-old chandeliers have been cleaned and refurbished, and stone work repaired. Outside a ramp constructed from the original stone flags now provides wheelchair access. The project has included spacious new toilets with full facilities for the disabled.
