Junior Common Room
Durham University
A new Junior Common Room has been completed at Durham University’s Queens Campus in Stockton-on-Tees.
The large single storey building, which is surrounded by halls of residence, acts as a focal point for the University’s Stephenson College, which is named after the railway pioneer. The building is attractively clad in sustainable cedar, while its green roof features a central lantern, which provides the interior with natural light.
The naturally ventilated building includes space for general socializing, refreshment facilities, indoor games, TV and films, study areas and storage and toilet facilities. There are also two offices and a small shop.
