David studied at the Canterbury School of Architecture, where he was the winner of the Wade Architectural Student Prize. He joined GSS in 1983 and became a partner in 1985. David has served as a member of the RIBA's National Council and is a past Chairman of the East Midlands RIBA.

Formerly with Michael Hopkins & Partners, his designs for the Campus Restaurant at the University of Northampton were exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The Restaurant won the nationally-recognised Civic Trust Award.

David has extremely broad experience and has designed a wide variety of buildings across all sectors. He has particular expertise in the industrial, commercial and education sectors, and has considerable experience of masterplanning. David is the QA manager for the practice.

Will studied architecture at Manchester University and after working for a large London practice spent several years working as an architect in the West Midlands. He joined GSS in 1996, becoming an associate in 1998 and a partner in 2001. He has a wide range of experience with particular interests in the education and health sectors, where he has been the project architect on a large number of important schemes.

Will also has considerable expertise in conservation and restoration work, and has undertaken a variety of projects at a number of historic houses. He also undertakes church conservation work for four dioceses in the Midlands.

Will is a qualified CDM Co-ordinator and is a Past President of the Northamptonshire Society of Architects. Will takes overall responsibility for GSS's compliance with the Investors in People scheme.

Ian S Bray

Chartered Quantity Surveyor

Ian, who is a chartered quantity surveyor and project manager, joined the practice in 1993. He became an associate in 2002 and was appointed a partner in 2006. Educated at the University of Central England in Birmingham, he won the Francis Graves Award for the best dissertation in the academic year. He subsequently studied Construction Project Management at Oxford Brookes University.

Ian has broad experience, having worked as a project manager or senior quantity surveyor on a wide variety of projects in the industrial, commercial, healthcare, leisure and education sectors.

Brian L Gotch

Brian joined GSS in 1989 and became an associate in 1992. Appointed a partner in 1997, Brian now has overall responsibility for the management of the practice. He also takes the lead in the programming of projects and their contractual arrangements.

Brian has extensive experience of both project management and cost management across all the various sectors, and previously was responsible for GSS's project management and quantity surveying departments. He is a former board member of the RICS's East Midlands region.

Jonathan D Hunter

Chartered Architectural Technologist

Jonathan joined the practice in July 2002 and became an Associate just five years later. He was then appointed a partner in August 2010. He is responsible for the overall management of the Harrogate office. He has a detailed knowledge of construction with an enviable track record of managing projects and ensuring their on-time delivery. With excellent technical skills, he is the practice CAD manager.

Jonathan has substantial experience as a team leader, where he has been responsible for a variety of projects, particularly in the education and health sectors. These include several multi-million pound redevelopments, one of which, at St John Fisher Catholic High School in Peterborough, subsequently won an international award for environmental best practice.

Jonathan is a qualified CDM co-ordinator.

Thomas G Lyons

Tom joined GSS in 1988 and became a partner in 1997. His considerable design experience includes educational, residential, commercial, retail and leisure projects with particular emphasis on sustainability and regeneration. He has considerable experience of masterplanning.

He is a qualified CDM Co-ordinator and is responsible for the co-ordination of the practice's health and safety service provision. Tom is a past President of the Northamptonshire Society of Architects. In 2004 he was appointed by the RIBA as an assessor and external lecturer at De Montfort University's School of Architecture.

Michael A Magri

Chartered Architect

Michael studied architecture at Oxford Brookes University and at the South Bank University in London, gaining his degree in 1993 followed by a Diploma in Architecture in 1997.

Based at GSS's Bristol office, Michael has extensive experience in retail, residential housing (including social housing projects), education and commercial work, and before joining GSS in 2003 was a partner at a London practice. He was appointed a partner at GSS in 2006.

He has worked on a number of key education sector projects, including masterplans for several universities, a new primary school, other new school buildings and a new Children's Centre and on a number of social housing schemes across the south-west.

Mark Stevens

Chartered Quantity Surveyor

Mark graduated in Quantity Surveying at the University of Reading in 1993. After five years with Gardiner & Theobald in London, Mark joined GSS as a senior quantity surveyor in 1998. He was appointed an associate in July 2000 and a full partner just one year later. Mark has particular expertise in formulating and compiling complex bids for both funding and for other purposes.

Mark has extensive project management experience in education, housing and the industrial and commercial sectors. Mark has been responsible for the development of GSS's Bristol office, where he is in charge of overall management.
